EY EY EYYYY Tribe! I can’t articulate just how much I’m blazing over here with habit stacking and noticing greater transformation. What about you? How are you doing? Shout out to some of my Tribe who took on the challenge and did connect with me on the habits they are tracking and the patterns they are noticing. Some are implementing changes right now! And yes, they allowed me to give them a little coaching as well. I can’t wait to hear about their progress. Isn’t it motivating to keep going? You think we should? Okay then, let’s blaze! Five Strategies for Eliminating Bad Habits: Number Two- Clean House.

What transformation is birthed out of.
What transformation is birthed out of.

Clean House

1. Identify Clutter Hotspots: Figure out where the messiest spots in your home are. These clutter zones are often where bad habits love to hide, like the living room, kitchen counter/cabinets, or your work desk.

2. Set Clear Goals: Picture what a perfectly clean and organized space looks like to you. This vision can pump you up and keep you on track as you tackle the habits that cause chaos.

3. Create a Cleaning Schedule: Turn cleaning into a regular part of your routine. Break it down into easy, bite-sized tasks, like 15-minute power sessions each day, to make it manageable and keep the momentum going.

4. Declutter One Room at a Time: Tackle one area at a time to keep from feeling overwhelmed. Start with the room you use the most to see quick wins and build up your cleaning confidence.

5. Discard and Donate: Go through your stuff and sort it into keep, toss, or donate piles. Letting go of things that no longer serve you can feel incredibly freeing and helps curb the habit of hoarding unnecessary items. This includes junk food a.k.a snacks. Yeah right/okay! LOL.

6. Organize Smartly: Use clever storage solutions that fit your space and lifestyle. Labels, drawer dividers, and dedicated spots for frequently used items can help maintain order and reduce the temptation to let clutter creep back in.

7. Reward Progress: Celebrate your small victories along the way. Positive reinforcement can strengthen your commitment to keeping a tidy environment and reinforce the new habits you're establishing.

8. Involve Family Members: If you have loved ones around, get them involved in the cleaning mission. This team effort can foster a sense of shared responsibility and create a more harmonious living space.

9. Reflect on Emotional Connections: Take some time to understand the emotional reasons behind your bad habits and clutter. Addressing these deeper issues can help you make more mindful choices moving forward.

10. Maintain Vigilance: Regularly check in and tweak your strategies to make sure your new habits stick. Staying alert and adaptable will help you keep your home clean and organized in the long run.

I know! You probably read these and thought either This isn’t rocket science or This is just the basics, or how ‘bout What does this really have to do with habit change? You are so right but can I tell you something? I said, can I tell you something? Yes! Okay, thank you. What I want to tell you is that the basics ain’t basicing! I’m just sayin’.

Most people know what to do; the hardest part is doing what you know does/could/will work, consistently. If we are not consistently, more likely than not, we will “fall off” and back into our old habits if we don’t start by clearing the clutter to make way for the new healthy habits. Because you know the saying “Old habits die hard!” Well, you know what I say to that?! I say “Old habits! DIE! DIE I SAY! And NEVER GET RESURRECTED. You will NOT have eternal life or reincarnation. PERIODTTT! I’m just sayin’. Old habits go somewhere to die, and we are never to experience them again. The best way to do that is to act on #9, above.

So, what will you do this week? Will you get to cleaning house? I hope so because when you do, you will be blazing like I am. And I’ve noticed I'm feeling a little alone on the blazing part and desire your company. You don’t have to trust my lived experiences but please trust and be patient to the process.
